Four explosions thundered on Independence Day in India

Four explosions overshadowed the celebration of the Republic Day in the Indian province of Assam in eastern India, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Indian television channel NDTV.

According to Indian police, the explosions rang out between 8.15 and 8.25 in the morning (5.45 and 5.55 Moscow time). At the same time, one of them occurred in the immediate vicinity of the police station – two young people on a motorcycle threw a grenade and disappeared.

“I strongly condemn the bombings in several places in Assam. This cowardly attempt to create chaos on the holy day only demonstrates the frustration of terrorist groups after they are completely rejected by the people. Our government will take the most severe measures to bring the perpetrators to justice”, – wrote Assama Sarbananda’s chief minister Dawned on Twitter.

Previously, members of the Assam United Liberation Front may become responsible for the bombings – the activities of this organization are considered terrorist and are prohibited by the Indian government.
