Lavrov held talks with the Foreign Minister of Belarus

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed bilateral relations with Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, the Russian Ministry said in a statement.

The conversation was initiated by the Belarusian side.

“The parties discussed topical issues of Russian-Belarusian cooperation, the interaction of foreign affairs agencies and the further development of allied relations between Russia and Belarus”, – the Ministry said in a statement.

On Tuesday, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting on improving the efficiency of export sales of petroleum products that Minsk would purchase oil from alternative Russian markets at world prices.

Belarus is actively looking for an opportunity to buy oil, alternative to Russian. The First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Dmitry Krutoy said last week that he expects soon agreements on this matter, while considering the possibility of deliveries from Ukraine, from Poland, the Baltic countries, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.
