Syria: Militants with the support of armored vehicles attacked the positions of government troops

The positions of government troops in the area of the village of Abu Jref in Idlib province were attacked by a detachment of militants of up to 50 people with the support of six tanks and infantry fighting vehicles.

According to the head of the Center for the Reconciliation of the warring parties, Yuri Bondarenko, the Syrian army met terrorists with artillery fire, and then with the help of tanks and armored vehicles launched a counterattack, dropping the militant detachment and rebuilding its defense line.

“The militants managed to break through the defenses of government forces and advance up to 1.2 kilometers deep into the positions of the Syrian army. But thanks to a competent counterattack, they managed to knock out the militants from the captured positions and restore the front line, ”said Yuri Baranov.

According to the head of the CPVS, the main purpose of such attacks by militants is to disrupt the ceasefire agreements that were enshrined in the treaty of Russia and Turkey, as well as destabilize the situation in the region.

By their actions, terrorists are trying to mobilize their supporters who are on this territory for aggressive actions against government forces, as well as to secure financial support from Western sponsors.
