The project of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline will be completed despite the U.S. pressure, the benefit to sober Europeans from the creation of an additional gas export route is obvious, said in a statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Inclusion of known sanctions provisions in the U.S. law on defense spending in 2020. – outright interference in European affairs. Some U.S. senators have come to direct threats against specific contractors involved in the construction of JV-2. The goal, understandably, is not to care about European energy security, but to push the expensive American LNG into the European market”, – says the Russian Foreign Ministry’s answer to the questions received by the media for the press conference on the results of the Russian diplomacy in 2019.
It is noted that such actions of the United States are a flagrant example of unfair competition under the guise of politicized slogans.
“Despite the continuing pressure, the Nord Stream 2 will be completed. For sober Europeans the benefit of creating an additional gas export route is obvious. Although there are countries that are ready to work for the overseas masters to the detriment of their citizens’ interests”, – added the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Nord Stream 2 project involves the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The pipeline will run through territorial waters or the exclusive economic zones of Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
