US military resume joint operations with Iraq

The US and Iraqi military resumed joint operations to combat the Islamic State terrorist organization (IG, banned in the Russian Federation), according to the New York Times.

As two American military officials told the publication, joint US military operations with Iraq resumed on Wednesday.

According to them, the military wants to resume operations against the IS as soon as possible in order to weaken any “propaganda about victory” from the organization, after the joint actions of the USA and Iraq were suspended.

It is noted that the decision to resume hostilities was made less than two weeks after the Iraqi parliament voted to expel all American troops from the country.

The reason for this decision was the liquidation of the US on the territory of Iraq by Iranian General Kassem Suleimani, the deputy commander of the Shiite militia of Iraq, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and eight others.
