Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy said that Europe needs Russia and Russia needs Europe, and those who do not understand this, in his opinion, do not understand anything about geography and history.
“Russia stretches from Europe to Asia, but Europe needs Russia and Russia needs Europe. Our destiny is interconnected. Those who don’t understand it – those who don’t understand anything in geography and history at all”, – Sarkozy said, speaking at a session of the Gaidar Forum in Moscow.
The current French President Emmanuelle Macron has also repeatedly stated that the development of Europe is impossible without Russia. According to him, the EU needs to build new relations with Russia for security and stability on the European continent.
