In 2019, Russia strengthened its position among 73 “best countries in the world”, taking 23rd place in the overall ranking of U.S. News & World Report.
Last year Russia was ranked 24th, and a year earlier – 26th.
The magazine conducted the research in collaboration with experts from the University of Pennsylvania and the BAV Group. The authors have analyzed about 20 positions regarding the situation in countries in terms of politics, economics, social sphere, tourism, culture and others.
Thus, Russia was ranked first as the country where it is best to start a career, second as “the most powerful country”, and fourth among “the most influential countries”.
In addition, the authors of the study put Russia in 12th place among the countries in transition, in 15th place among the countries with the richest heritage and in 19th place among the countries where one can go to study.
American experts assessed Russia’s position in terms of doing business much worse. Thus, in the category “The most business-friendly countries” Russia was put on the last 73rd place, and in the category “The best countries to start a business” – on the penultimate place.
In another authoritative international rating Doing Business, Russia, according to the latest data, ranks 28th in the world, consistently improving its position in recent years.
In addition, U.S. News & World Report ranked Russia 70th in the category “a place for a comfortable pension”.
The rating was based on a survey of 20,000 respondents around the world. 65 criteria were used to assess countries.
U.S. News & World Report was founded in 1948. Since then, the publication has been mainly ranked in the U.S., particularly among universities and clinics. At the same time, the method of calculation has often attracted criticism from a number of specialists.
