Nine people, including four civilians, were killed by gunfire the day before in Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, Al-Hadas TV reported, citing military sources.
“The military reported an end to the mutiny, in which nine people, including four civilians, were killed”, – it said on Twitter.
The day before, members of the Sudan General Intelligence Directorate of Operations fired into the air in Khartoum to protest against the restructuring of the agency, as well as the amount of compensation for staff members upon completion of their service. Presumably, the organizers of the “intelligence agency mutiny” may have been ex-heads of the agency or high-ranking officials who are waiting to be fired soon.
At least one Sudanese serviceman was killed and seven others were wounded as a result of the firefight in the capital between the security services and the military that lasted until late at night. Late at night, the Sudanese army took control of the headquarters of the General Intelligence Operations Directorate and the rebels were detained.
