On Tuesday, terrorist group militants opened fire on the Al-Khader humanitarian corridor on the border between the Syrian governorates of Aleppo and Idlib, which is intended for the withdrawal of civilians from the terrorist-controlled areas of Idlib. This was reported by the Syrian television channel Al Ihbaria.
According to it, civilians were fired upon. Information about the dead and injured is being clarified.
According to the channel, dozens of civilians continue to leave the terrorist-controlled areas of Idlib through humanitarian corridors.
Four de-escalation zones were established in Syria in accordance with an agreement reached in May 2017 during negotiations in Astana (now Nur-Sultan) by representatives of Russia, Iran and Turkey. The territory of three of these zones was taken over by Damascus in 2018. The fourth zone, located in the province of Idlib and parts of the neighbouring provinces of Latakia, Hama and Aleppo, remains outside the control of the Government of the Republic. However, most of this zone has been seized by terrorists from the banned organization Jabhat al-Nusra.
The Syrian Army offensive began in Idlib on 19 December last year and led to the liberation of 46 localities. On 12 January, a ceasefire took effect in the de-escalation zone in Idlib. On 13 January, from 1 p.m. Moscow, the points of exit for civilians from the Idlib zone began to operate. They are equipped with places to provide medical care, drinking water, hot meals, medicine and basic necessities.
