No country is capable of achieving foreign policy successes in the Middle East comparable to those of Russia, the authors of an article published on the German information portal Deutschlandfunk.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin went to Damascus and Istanbul, maintains good relations with Iran, received the German Chancellor, had a telephone conversation with Rome and Paris, and in Moscow, the head of the Libyan government and his main opponent took part in negotiations to reach a truce”, – the Deutschlandfunk publication says.
According to the authors of the article, Moscow has become the center of the Middle East crisis diplomacy – the reason for success lies in the fact that Russia fills the power vacuum in the region, thus achieving without much expense to strengthen its own influence. Moscow proceeds from “cold calculation” and is not engaged in “political magic”. It is Russia that creates the conditions in the region from which other states, in particular Germany, come.
Such actions, as the publication stresses, are bearing fruit, and the successful phase of Russian foreign policy will continue for a long time to come, concluded journalists of the German media.
