Three teachers died in an alleged attack by Al-Shabab militants in Garissa County in eastern Kenya, the local Daily Nation reported citing the police.
According to the edition, the attack occurred on Monday at dawn, three non-local teachers were killed.
According to the police chief of the Northeast Region, Paul Soi, the target of the militants was a television tower and a police station. The tower was partially destroyed.
The radical Islamist group Al-Shabab (the Movement of Young Mujahideen), based in Somalia, has close ties with the international terrorist organization Al-Qaeda*. It wages an armed struggle against the central government of Somalia and impedes the humanitarian activities of the UN. The United States inflicts regular attacks on Al-Shabab positions. In addition, it was previously reported that in Kenya there have also been occasional cases of targeted attacks by militants of a Somali extremist organization directed against Christians.
