More than 850 refugees returned to Syria from foreign territories in the past 24 hours, according to the newsletter of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties and Monitoring of Refugee Movement.
“Over the past 24 hours, 855 refugees returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territories of foreign countries, including 287 from Lebanon through checkpoints “Jeidet Yabus”, “Tell Kalah” (87 women, 147 children), 568 from Jordan through the checkpoint “Nasib” (170 women, 290 children)”, – the report says.
It is noted that the Reconciliation Centre conducted two humanitarian activities during the day. A total of 250 food packages weighing 1,212 tons were distributed in Duma, governorate of Damascus; 350 food packages weighing 1,697 tons were distributed in Magrid, governorate of Latakia.
According to the Centre, Syrian Armed Forces engineering units cleared 3.1 hectares of land in a day. In addition, specialists have destroyed 39 explosive ordnance items.
The armed conflict in Syria has continued since 2011. At the end of 2017, the victory over the IG* terrorist group in Syria and Iraq was announced. Militant clean-up operations continue in parts of the country. The political settlement, reconstruction of Syria, as well as the return of refugees are now in the foreground.
