Seven countries lost their voting rights in the UN General Assembly

Seven UN member states were denied voting rights at the General Assembly due to non-payment of contributions. This was reported on the organization’s website.

Representatives of Venezuela, the Gambia, Yemen, Lesotho, Lebanon, Tong and the Central African Republic will not be able to vote at the General Assembly, as their arrears exceeded the amount of payments for the past two years. Deprivation of the right to vote provides for the 19th article of the UN Charter.
