The Serbian President has stated that a working dinner of the four leaders will be held in Istanbul.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, Serbian President Alexander Vucic and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov will discuss the crisis in the Middle East at a working dinner in Istanbul on Wednesday. The Serbian leader, who participated in the opening ceremony of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, said this to the Serbian national television RTS.
“We’ll have something between a working lunch and a working dinner, we’ll be alone, and we’ll look at all the topics, we’ll listen to how world power and regional power, or if you like, the two world powers, are looking at problems in the Middle East. Because this is an energy issue for us, among other things. Any escalation raises the price of oil and gas, which would not be good news for us. We will see how they relate to those problems, and we will discuss all bilateral issues”, – the Serbian leader said.
The leaders of Russia, Turkey, Serbia and Bulgaria took part in the ceremony of launching the Turkish Stream gas pipeline. Earlier, on December 25, 2019 Serbia announced the completion of pipe laying in its section of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.
The situation in the Middle East was destabilized after the Commander of the Al-Quds Special Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the Iranian Armed Forces), General Kasem Suleimani, was killed during the US Army operation. In response, on the night of Jan. 8, Tehran launched a rocket attack on two sites in Iraq used by the U.S. military – Ain al-Assad base and Erbil airport.
Quotations of Brent oil are rising amidst the conflict and as of January 8, 13:00, they are at the level of about $68.68 per barrel.
