Former Latvian Foreign Minister Janis Jurkans said that the attitude of the Baltic countries towards Russia depends on the policy of the United States against Moscow.
“As soon as someone looks in the direction of Russia, there may be sanctions – as this was done with respect to companies that participate in the Nord Stream-2 project,” he said in an interview with Latvia.
According to him, the Americans will “rule the sanctions” and will be “like a policeman” while the dollar reigns in the economic world.
Jurkans believes that after the US elections there will not be any rapprochement with Russia, and Latvia will follow the course dictated by the Americans.
“I don’t see any kind of reversal facing Russia,” he added.
Earlier, Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid said that Moscow is “the most difficult partner” for Tallinn.
According to her, Russia does not comply with its international obligations.
