Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, believes his country has managed to respond to the U.S. shelling the American military in Iraq.
“That night we slapped them”, – he said during a speech in Qom. It’s being broadcast on Iranian television.
At the same time Khamenei emphasized that such actions of Iran are less serious than the American special operation, during which the commander of the Iranian Quds special unit Kasem Suleimani was killed earlier in January in Iraq. “It was not equivalent to what they US did”, – said the Iranian leader.
His speech was temporarily interrupted when the audience started chanting: “death to America” and “death to Israel”.
“The enemies are America and Israel and the system they created is unceremonious”, – added the ayatollah.
He said Iran needed a nuclear program because abandoning it “would lead to American domination.
