France does not intend to withdraw its 160 soldiers stationed in Iraq after the Iranian strikes that took place in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, a government source said January 8.
On January 7, the Minister of Armed Forces announced on Twitter that as of Friday, January 3, France has strengthened the level of protection of its 160 soldiers stationed in Iraq.
According to Florence Parley, “everything is being done to ensure their safety”.
Iran fired rockets at bases where U.S. forces were stationed in Iraq after the U.S. killed Iranian General Kassem Suleimani last week.
At least 80 people were killed in Iranian missile attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq, Iranian public television said Jan. 8.
No French military personnel have been injured, the French general staff said.
