Iran announces no plans to create nuclear weapons

Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Majid Taht-Ravanchi, on PBS NewsHour, said that Tehran has no plans to produce nuclear weapons, despite the cessation of obligations under the nuclear deal.

“No, we are not interested in possessing nuclear weapons. Because we have a clear sacred mandate from our supreme leader prohibiting nuclear weapons, ”RIA Novosti quotes Takht-Ravanchi.

According to him, the Iranian defense doctrine “there is no place for nuclear weapons.”

Earlier, the Iranian side announced the fifth, final stage of reducing its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Nuclear Program Action Plan.

The Iranian government noted that Tehran no longer intends to comply with any restrictions on the amount of enrichment in the field of nuclear research and development.
