The Cabinet of Ministers of Germany called Russia an important player on the world stage

The official representative of the German Cabinet of Ministers, Steffen Seibert, said that Russia is needed as a permanent member of the UN Security Council to resolve political conflicts.

Russia is needed to solve political problems in the world. This was stated by the official representative of the German Cabinet of Ministers Steffen Seibert at a briefing in Berlin on Monday.

“Russia is an important player on the world stage and, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, is needed to resolve political conflicts”,  –  he said.

According to the Kremlin’s press service, German Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay a working visit to Russia on January 11 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the talks it is planned to discuss topical issues on the international agenda, including the situation in Syria, Libya, the escalation of tensions in the Middle East as a result of the American air strike at Baghdad airport on January 3.

For his part, Seibert noted that the Chancellor will be accompanied by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas. “International issues – Syria, Libya, Iraq, Iran and Ukraine – will be discussed at a working dinner. In addition, the sides will touch upon bilateral issues”, – said a representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Germany.
