Former Bolivian Foreign Minister leaves Argentina and returns to his homeland

Former Bolivian Foreign Minister Diego Pari left Argentina, where he was with former Bolivian President Evo Morales, and returned to his homeland, the Deber newspaper reported.

“I will be where social movements say I should be”, – the publication quotes the word Paris.

The former Foreign Minister thanked public organizations for considering him as a possible candidate from the Movement to Socialism (MAS) party in the presidential election in Bolivia.

Earlier, Pari told RIA Novosti that he was ready to be a new candidate from MAS in the presidential election, if such a decision is made, and noted that he intends to return to the country to continue work on coordinating social movements in preparation for the presidential election to be held in 2020 year.

After the opposition, led by Carlos Mesa, announced massive election irregularities on October 20, Evo Morales, under pressure from the military, resigned and left the country. Following him, the entire top leadership of Bolivia resigned, power passed to the opposition vice-speaker of the Senate, Janine Agnes. The authorities announced the holding of new general elections.

Morales is forbidden to run in the upcoming elections as a candidate; he is in Argentina, from where he leads the presidential campaign of his Movement to Socialism. The Bolivian Supreme Election Court (TSE) has appointed general elections in the country for May 3.
