Actions that impede dialogue and lead to escalation of the situation on the Korean peninsula are unacceptable, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Thursday.
Earlier, the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, announced at the end of the plenary session of the central committee of the Labor Party of Korea that Pyongyang will continue to develop strategic weapons until the hostile US policy towards the DPRK is eliminated and will soon introduce new strategic weapons.
“At the moment, the escalation of the situation and actions that are not conducive to dialogue are unacceptable”, – a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said at a briefing.
He expressed hope that the parties involved, especially the United States and the DPRK, will adhere to dialogue and consultations, will go towards each other and look for a way to move forward, as well as make real efforts to promote a political settlement of the problem of the Korean Peninsula.
