In the center of the Georgian capital, where regular protests of the pro-Western opposition have been going on for a month and a half, by the New Year they decided to install illuminations and attractions. This quite expected initiative took Maidanists by surprise.
According to the Mtavari TV channel, last night garbage trucks suddenly pulled up to the parliament building, with the help of which they began to demolish the tents installed by the protesters against the walls of the legislative body. Dissatisfied with the incident, the opposition elites sent people to a spontaneous rally.
Later, there were reports of several detainees, but there was no official confirmation of this. At night, protests outside the parliament building continued under the supervision of security officials.
As News Front previously reported, the tent camp was laid out on Rustaveli Avenue in mid-November. The reason for this was the failure of the vote of deputies for electoral reform, which was supposed to increase the chances of pro-Western political forces to go to parliament.
