The Iranian Foreign Ministry has called U.S. strikes in Iraq terrorism

Tehran considers U.S. strikes in Syria and Iraq an act of terrorism, demanding the U.S. to leave the region, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Musawi said on Monday.

“The U.S. military aggression against Iraq and Iraqi forces is direct evidence of the U.S. terrorism, (Tehran) condemned it”, –  said Musawi, whose words were published in the Telegram Channel of the agency.

He demanded that the U.S. stop interfering in Iraq’s internal affairs and also pointed out that the presence of foreign troops in the region only escalates tensions. Mousavi therefore demanded that the U.S. “cease its occupation presence.
Earlier, the Pentagon said the U.S. hit five Kataib Hezbollah sites in Iraq and Syria “in response to repeated attacks on Iraqi bases. The defense agency explained that the action was in response to the movement’s attacks on an Iraqi base near Kirkuk, which resulted in the death of a U.S. citizen and injury to four U.S. military personnel. The Pentagon said the attacks were designed to reduce the group’s ability to conduct “future attacks” against coalition forces. The U.S. accuses Iran of sponsoring Hezbollah.
