Kurdish militants have set the Turkish troops against the Syrian army

The Turkish Armed Forces shelled a Syrian Arab Army unit. The reason for this was an attack by militants of the pro-American Kurdish group “Syrian Democratic Forces”.

This is reported by the Kurdish news agency “Firat,” referring to military sources.

According to media reports, UDS militants have raided the city of Ain Isa in the northern part of the province of Raqqa. During the raid, they killed three Turkish soldiers. Turkish troops, in their turn, took action, but against Syrian government troops. They opened fire on the locations of the SAA 30 kilometres east of Ain Issa, resulting in Syrian military casualties and the destruction of several armoured vehicles.

It is worth noting that the city of Ain Issa came under Syrian army control as a result of an agreement between Damascus and the leaders of the Syrian democratic forces in October. That took place against the backdrop of the Turkish offensive launched under Operation Source of Peace.

As previously reported by News Front, in early October, the Turkish Armed Forces launched an offensive in northern Syria to defeat Kurdish armed gangs, which operated in the region under the auspices of the United States. However, Washington did not provide any support to the loyal fighters. Despite that, already in November, the Syrian democratic forces announced the resumption of cooperation with Washington, ostensibly to fight the Islamic State.
