Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Kremlin said.
World leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further support the Nord Stream 2 project. In addition, the heads of state noted progress in negotiations on the continuation of the transit of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine after January 1, 2020.
Putin and Merkel also discussed the situation in Libya and Syria, including the mediation of Germany and the UN. They agreed to step up efforts to resolve the crisis.
World leaders also positively assessed the prisoner exchange held in Ukraine according to the “all installed on all installed” scheme.
Earlier in the Donbass the first exchange of prisoners took place in two years. Kiev transferred over 120 people to the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, Donetsk and Lugansk gave about 80 people to the Ukrainian authorities.
