The self-proclaimed DPR and LPR completed the exchange of prisoners with Kiev, RIA Novosti reports.
DPR received 60 people, Kiev – 52. It is expected that several more supporters of the republic will be delivered to Donetsk. Now supporters of the DPR and Ukrainian security officials are in buses, cars are ready to leave the territory of the checkpoint on the outskirts of Gorlovka.
Earlier, the exchange was completed in the LPR. Kiev transferred 63 people to the republic, Lugansk – 25. At the same time, nine people refused to return to the LPR.
The exchange was monitored by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the OSCE, including Tony Frisch, coordinator in the humanitarian subgroup for the Donbass.
This is the first exchange of prisoners in two years. Earlier, the DPR declared its readiness to transfer 55 people to Kiev, 87 of its supporters planned to pick up.
