Russian Foreign Ministry explained why the US withdraws from a series of agreements

The United States decided to minimize the legal framework that hindered their actions on the international platform, deciding to withdraw from the agreements, in particular, the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (JCPOA), said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

As the diplomat noted, the military-political sphere used to be a little different and was not subject to momentary political conditions, for example, harsh statements or any aggravations.

“These were such pillar things and pillar documents that were worked out for a long time and kept for a long time. Today we see that even these pillars and documents, and topics, unfortunately, by and large become a victim of just such a momentary situation, such a momentary approach”, – Zakharova said in the program “International Review” on the Russia 24 channel.

The representative of the Foreign Ministry noted that, considering these actions of the United States, it is not necessary to take the issue of disarmament beyond the scope of the problem.

“The United States of America, it was they who were at the head of this process, considered it necessary for themselves to minimize the legal framework that hindered their actions on the international platform. They came out of UNESCO, having withdrawn all obligations under the agreements, like under the climate agreement zeroed all their signatures, just as it touched on the topic of the JCPOA, Iran and the entire bloc associated with the limitation of armaments”, – said Zakharova.

On August 2, the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles terminated. Earlier this year, Washington announced a unilateral withdrawal from the agreement, accusing Russia of violating it.

Moscow rejected all charges. In early July, President Vladimir Putin signed a law to suspend the treaty. Russia has repeatedly stated that it fully complies with the INF Treaty. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that Moscow has very serious questions for Washington regarding the implementation of the treaty by the Americans themselves. According to him, the US allegations of violation of the INF Treaty are unfounded.

Iran on November 6 for the fourth time refused to fulfill its obligations under a nuclear deal – the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (JCPOA), from which the United States had earlier withdrawn and reinstated sanctions against Tehran, and began using uranium enrichment centrifuges at the Fordo facility, while a nuclear the deal implies that the complex in Natanz will be the only one for such purposes.
