Russia next year will continue to build up the combat potential of the troops of the Central District, guarding, including the border with the countries of Central Asia. This was announced on Friday by the commander of the district’s troops, Alexander Lapin.
The Central Asian strategic direction is one of the most risky in the current situation, which has been repeatedly spoken about at both the General Staff and the Security Council. In Afghanistan, the banned Islamic State * group, which is already preparing a springboard for an invasion of Central Asia through Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, is building up its forces.
“The main objectives of the training of troops next year are determined … an increase in the intensity of operational training by 13%, and combat training by 26%,” Lapin reported at a conference call in the Ministry of Defense.
The combat potential of the district’s troops should increase by 5%, which will allow “guaranteed to ensure the military security of the Russian Federation in the Central Asian strategic direction.”
