Dusko Markovic forbade police officers to use force against protesters against the law on freedom of religion, which infringes on the interests of the Serbian Orthodox Church (TWS).
Turning also to the clergy, the prime minister promised that the possible adoption of a law on religious freedom would not affect the situation of religious communities.

Due to alleged protests of believers, about 1,000 police officers blocked all approaches to parliament and the center of the capital of Montenegro. Meanwhile, a convoy of believers led by Metropolitan Amphilochius and the bishops moved to the parliament building.
Earlier, the president of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, accused the SOC of trying to maintain a religious monopoly in the country and said he would seek autocephaly for the “Montenegrin church” following the example of Ukraine.
