The Chinese military believes that the U.S. space force could launch an arms race.
The United States is militarizing outer space under the pretext of a threat from other countries and plans to achieve full military superiority in this area. This was stated at a briefing on Thursday by an official representative of the Chinese Defense Ministry, Senior Colonel Wu Qian.
“Space is the common property of all mankind. China has always supported the use of outer space for peaceful purposes, as well as opposed its militarization and arms race in outer space, and even the use or threat of use of military force through objects in outer space”, – he said.
Under the pretext of a military threat from other countries, the US has formed a space force that is designed to achieve absolute military superiority in space and will entail an arms race in this sphere, he said.
“This poses a serious threat to peace and security in outer space and global strategic stability. We express our strong protest in this regard”, – added an official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Defence.
On December 23, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Gen Shuang said China expresses concern and strongly opposes the US dominance strategy in outer space.
