A church coup is being prepared in Montenegro – Orthodox believers are protesting

A massive protest rally takes place near the walls of the Church of the Resurrection in the Montenegrin capital Podgorica. The protesters are opposed to the resonant law “On Freedom of Religion”, under the democratic name of which hides the legitimization of schismatic groups.

Earlier, News Front reported that the Montenegrin parliament supported the bill. However, the public did not appreciate the decision of the authorities, since the new legislation will actually allow the state to confiscate all the property of the canonical Serbian Orthodox Church with a view to its further transfer to the schismatics from the unrecognized Montenegrin Orthodox Church.

Orthodox believers in Montenegro have repeatedly opposed the new law at many thousands of church and people’s councils in Podgorica and Niksic, but the authorities insist on its adoption.

It is worth noting that the ruling Democratic Party of Socialists is legally engaged in the promotion. Its leader, Milo Djukanovic, had previously announced as part of his political program “Renovation of the Montenegrin Orthodox Church”. In the past, as prime minister, it was he who ensured the fulfillment of the US will to integrate Montenegro into NATO.
