China and Russia discuss list of key projects for year of scientific cooperation

The Chinese Foreign Ministry also announced the creation of a road map for the Years of Russian-Chinese scientific, technological and innovation cooperation in 2020 and 2021.

China and Russia are currently discussing a list of priority projects and a road map for the Years of Russian-Chinese scientific, technical and innovation cooperation in 2020 and 2021. This was announced on Wednesday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Gen Shuang.

“As for future cooperation, we have great potential in information, telecommunications and technology, as well as artificial intelligence and the Internet of things. At present, we are discussing the list of projects to be prioritized within the Year of Scientific, Technical and Innovation Cooperation, as well as the road map”, – he said.

“I am confident that by taking this opportunity, we will get even more results in this area, which will contribute to our joint development, as well as science and technology of all humanity”, –  the diplomat added.

According to Gen Shuang, China and Russia have positive experience of cooperation in science and technology. Among examples of successful cooperation, the diplomat named the development of the fast reactor and wide-body long-range aircraft.

“Interaction in science and technology was a priority of our practical cooperation. Russia has a unique potential in research and innovation. And China is becoming one of the world leaders in information and telecommunications, as well as in satellite navigation, unmanned technology and supercomputers. We can take advantage of each other’s strengths and together strengthen our technological capabilities and competitiveness”, –  concluded the Foreign Ministry’s official representative.

On December 23, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an order on holding the Years of Russian-Chinese scientific-technical and innovation cooperation in 2020 and 2021. Earlier it was reported that about 800 events on various topics, including the promotion of Russian and Chinese languages in the partner country, are planned.
