The United States allocated $ 132 million for Georgia’s defense needs, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said. According to the Foreign Ministry, “the amount allocated to Georgia in the US defense law for 2020 has grown significantly, this is the highest figure in the history of Georgian-American relations”.
As it has already been reported by EADaily, on November 26, Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Washington signed a three-year framework agreement on security cooperation with Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Laura Cooper. The press service of the department noted that “the US Department of Defense will again support Georgia in reforms aimed at improving the combat efficiency of the army”.
The document provides for the extension of US assistance for the implementation of the Defense Preparedness Program (GDRP), the preparation of the Georgian military for service within the framework of the peace mission “Resolute Support” in Afghanistan.
