The Belarusian leader believes that it would be better if the Ukraine conducted such a course as after the collapse of the USSR.
Radical politicians in power in Ukraine are more dangerous than joining NATO. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in an interview with Echo of Moscow on Tuesday, December 24.
“The biggest threat as far as Ukraine is concerned for Russia will be not NATO, but if the Nazis come to power and get all the weapons and armaments, as you roughly call them there”, – said Lukashenko.
“Of course, I do not agree with it, do not insult someone, everyone has his own ideas”, – he continued.
“But you know these radical national forces in Ukraine, you know these battalions, I will not list them, you know the leaders in Ukraine who are always ready to lead this rabid radical nationalist until, I do not know whether it is a minority or a lot of them in Ukraine. This will be more terrible for you than NATO”, – said the Belarusian leader.
However, Lukashenko also believes that Ukraine’s accession to NATO “will not add security to us”.
“Not to us, let alone Russia”, – said President of Belarus, noting that it would be better if Ukraine followed such a course as it was after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Lukashenko also complained that Russia “screws the nuts” of Belarus every year. According to him, the international community will respond appropriately to the actions of Russia if it tries to violate the sovereignty of Belarus.
