Eurasian cooperation on American interests – Berlin offered to respond to US sanctions jointly with Russia

The American administration has no right to blackmail Germany with sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.

Such a statement was made by Gunnar Lindemann, a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from the party “Alternative for Germany” in the commentary of the German editorial office of News Front.

“The United States should not blackmail Germany with sanctions against Nord Stream 2”, –  he said.

According to him, the fact that the sanctions have become part of the US military budget shows the “extremely aggressive nature” of this campaign.

“Washington is rapidly becoming a world leader in sanctions policy. I hope that Germany, Russia and other European countries will not experience this blackmail from the United States. It would be a good example of demonstration of unity and a sign of Eurasian cooperation”, –  the MP said.

He said that Berlin should act in the interests of German consumers and therefore buy gas where it is most advantageous.

“This is clearly in Russia. That is why there is no alternative to Nord Stream 2 for Germany. We must not tolerate the US intimidation. We have to think about sanctions against American companies”, -concluded Lindemann.

As News Front reported earlier, the US Congress sneaked sanctions against Nord Stream-2 and Turkish Stream together with the military budget for 2020. The document has already entered into force and Allseas, which was engaged in the construction of Nord Stream-2, suspended its work until an explanation of the sanctions.
