In the context of the total digitalization of the US military systems, the Pentagon is still frankly ignoring the serious gap that could make Washington unarmed at the most crucial moment.
Such a statement was made by the former special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States Robert Turkewige in a publication for the publication “The Hill”.
According to him, the dependence of American weapons systems on software makes them an easy target, especially since they are all interconnected, and some even connected to the Internet. Thus, a professional Russian hacker who has cracked one of the systems will be able to gain access to each. At the same time, the Pentagon, although it is engaged in strengthening the security of its networks, ignores the software vulnerabilities of individual systems. And the new weapons did not acquire separate cybersecurity requirements. Turkewige claims that now opponents of the United States are actively exploiting such vulnerabilities.
The situation is aggravated by the fact that the Russian defense industry in recent years has significantly advanced, continues the former FBI officer. He admitted that at the moment, the American “missile shield” is working on the basis of the ability to calculate the flight path of a ballistic missile. Here are just Russian Avangard supersonic missiles with a planning warhead nullify the US system. At the same time, the States still cannot not only boast of similar weapons, but even the ability to defend themselves against them.
