Moscow will continue to implement its economic projects, regardless of anyone’s sanctions, the Russian Foreign Ministry said commenting on the US sanctions against Nord Stream 2 and Turkish Stream.
“We are watching with interest how the United States crosses a landmark line in foreign policy, starting to impose sanctions against which Russia has long been accustomed, against its own allies”, – the commentary on the Russian diplomacy website says.
As the ministry noted, the title of the section “On the Protection of the Energy Security of Europe” is absolutely disorienting.
The department pointed to the US desire not to provide Europe with energy at affordable prices, but to protect it from Russian resources. At the same time, Washington wants to impose American liquefied gas on Europeans. And since it is much more expensive than the Russian one, this should slow down the economic development of Europe, thereby undermining its ability to compete with the United States, the Foreign Ministry noted.
