Turkey is ready to impose anti-American sanctions – the issue will be resolved in the near future

The U.S. administration has threatened Ankara with the purchase of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, but this is a resolved issue. Now Washington has targeted Turkey’s energy sector, which will certainly entail a proportional response.

Such a statement was made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“We were threatened with action because of the situation with the C-400 and F-35 fighters, but we have already discussed it. The question is closed. Now they shamelessly declare that they will impose sanctions against the Turkish stream. Definitely, in response to each such step, we will apply our own sanctions”, –  the Turkish leader said, stressing that the actions of Washington are “an open interference in Turkish affairs”.

As reported earlier by News Front, the U.S. Congress has dragged along with the military budget a number of sanctions that should affect the “Nord Stream-2” and “Turkish Stream” projects. In addition, the text includes the so-called “Act on the protection of civilians in Syria”,  which implies sanctions for supporting official Damascus and government forces of the Arab Republic.

Donald Trump is expected to sign the document today, thus provoking Ankara to retaliate.
