Russia and China discussed the pairing of the EAEU and the “One Belt – One Way”

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov on Friday discussed the issue of pairing the EAEU with the One Belt, One Way initiative with the Chinese Foreign Minister Yue Bin, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“On both sides, a high assessment was given of the potential for combining the development plans of the Eurasian Economic Union and the One Belt – One Way initiative, expressed willingness to intensify the efforts of the parties with an emphasis on achieving practical results”, –  the commentary on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry reads.

Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs  reported that the 6th meeting of the Russian-Chinese Working Group on linking the development plans of the Eurasian Economic Union and the One Belt – One Way initiative, created in accordance with the joint statement of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China on May 8, was held in Moscow 2015 year. The Russian delegation at the meeting was headed by Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Kirill Barsky.

“During the meeting, the parties gave a positive assessment to the pairing work in 2019 and reiterated the focus on its further activation, strengthening the planned, systematic nature of cooperation, focused on practical results. The meeting participants welcomed the entry into force of the Agreement between the EAEU and its member states on October 25 on the one hand, and the PRC, on the other hand, on trade and economic cooperation and spoke in favor of speedy launching work to implement this agreement”, – the RF Foreign Ministry added.
