Eleven refugees, who were illegally brought to Italy in the summer by ship under the command of Carola Rockete, are to arrive in Germany.
Migrants spent about six months in Italian refugee camps. Until this morning they were in Croton in southern Italy, now they are in Cassel.
“I cannot believe my happiness”, – says Ebay Lucas, one of the refugees.
“This is one of the happiest days in a long time. I am so grateful I finally got a chance to start a new life,” he added.
Other EU countries such as Luxembourg, France, Finland and Portugal have also opened their doors to refugees with Sea Watch 3.
