Personal data of more than 267 million users of the social network were freely accessible on the Internet.
Personal data of more than 267 million users of the social network Facebook were freely available on the Web, according to the British research company Comparitech.
It is noted that any Internet user without password and registration could access the database with names, phones and other information.
Analysts believe that hackers intended to use this information for mass spamming and phishing attacks. In most cases, data from American users was stolen.
Comparitech found out that the base was formed by hackers from Vietnam. It was uploaded online on December 4. On December 14, it was discovered by a cybersecurity researcher and reported to Facebook. As of December 19, access to the data was denied.
It is not yet known how the users’ personal information could have been accessed by hackers.
Recall that in November, it was reported about the leak of data on Facebook. About a hundred developers of applications for the social network were able to access user data.
In addition, the open database contained information about 1.2 billion users of social networks Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and the service Github.
