Berlin sponsors migration crisis in the Balkans

In an attempt to keep a wave of migrants on the Balkan Peninsula, Germany will spend at least 660 thousand euros to expand refugee camps in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On Friday, December 20, reports the German edition of News Front.

According to reports, the German Technical Assistance Service intends to equip a camp near Sarajevo to accommodate 1,500 migrants there. As early as Thursday, it was expected that the barracks in the village of Blazhue, located 16 kilometers from Sarajevo, were already using 330 refugees. They were brought here after the closure of the Vuciak camp near Bihac ten days ago.

The problem is that the premises have not been used for a long time, therefore they are not suitable for living. In particular, the roof and electrical equipment require major repairs. Berlin is ready to finance the restoration of the premises. About two dozen employees of the German Technical Assistance Service will remain in Bosnia, even for the Christmas holidays. Berlin plans by the end of the year to provide the possibility of placing 700 migrants near Sarajevo, and by the end of January this number should increase to 1.5 thousand.

As News Front previously reported, the Vuciak migrant camp near the village of Bihac in Bosnia and Herzegovina was on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe. Melted snow to the locals replaced drinking water. The situation went so far that the refugees declared a boycott in connection with inhuman conditions. They refuse to eat and heat, while in the region the subzero temperature stays stable.

At the same time, local residents are calling for closing the camp. The situation is complicated by the fact that the flow of migrants wishing to get to Croatia from here does not stop. At the same time, migrants who want to obtain asylum in Bosnia are allowed to stay in the country for only 15 days. Therefore, most of them do not want to go through a bureaucratic procedure at all.
