Russian Emergencies Ministry convoy with humanitarian aid arrived in Donetsk

The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s humanitarian convoy arrived in Donetsk, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic said on Thursday.

“A 96th humanitarian convoy from the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived in the Donetsk People’s Republic”,  –  the Donetsk Ministry of Emergency Situations told.

At the moment, humanitarian aid is being unloaded. The previous convoy arrived in Donbass on December 12.
Humanitarian aid to residents of Donbas has been delivered since August 2014. During this period, the convoys of the Ministry of Emergency Situations brought over 84,000 tons of humanitarian aid to the south-east of Ukraine.
In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic and Donetsk People’s Republic, which declared independence after the coup d’état in Ukraine in February 2014. According to the latest UN data, about 13,000 people became victims of the conflict.

The issue of resolving the situation in Donbass is being discussed, including during meetings in Minsk of the contact group, which has already adopted three documents regulating steps to de-escalate the conflict since September 2014. However, even after the ceasefire agreements between the parties to the conflict, exchanges of fire continue.
