Nord Stream-2 pipeline will be constructed in winter and spring

In order to complete the delayed construction of the Russian-German Nord Stream 2 pipeline in the Baltic Sea in the coming months, the project company plans to continue construction in winter and spring. Now it has filed an amendment to the Federal Office for Shipping and Hydrography in Hamburg.

The nongovernmental organization Naturschutzbund Deutschland requires Nord Stream 2 not to receive a special permit for construction in the waters of the German bay.

“The route runs through the most important seabird wintering area in the Baltic Sea. In the coming months, more than a million sea ducks, sea divers will relax in the Pomeranian Gulf, ”said Kim Detlov, Naboo Sea Protection Manager.

The reason for this rush is the fact that the US is trying to massively sabotage the pipeline. The US House of Representatives recently imposed sanctions on companies associated with the project.

“European energy policy is being decided in Europe, not in the United States,” said Foreign Minister Heiko Maas (SPD) with unusual clarity. Russia sees the planned punitive measures as Washington’s attempt to gain advantage in the European gas market. From the point of view of Moscow, Europe will be left behind.
