Seoul believes that Kim Jong-Un may announce a break in dialogue with the U.S. in a New Year’s speech

The deadline set by Pyongyang for Washington to reach a compromise in the negotiations expires at the end of December.

DPRK leader Kim Jong-Un in his traditional New Year’s speech may announce the break with the U.S. on the nuclear missile issue. This was announced by a representative of the South Korean ministry of the association at a briefing in Seoul on Tuesday.

“It is possible that Kim Jong-Un’s New Year’s speech will announce the cessation or suspension of the dialogue if no breakthroughs are made in this direction by the end of this year”, –  the official said.

At the end of December, the deadline set by Pyongyang for Washington to work out a mutually acceptable compromise in the negotiations expires.

U.S. President Donald Trump and DPRK State Council Chairman Kim Jong-Un agreed at a meeting in Panmunjom on June 30 to resume negotiations on denuclearization at the working level, which were suspended after the unsuccessful conclusion of the two leaders’ summit in Hanoi in February.
