It is time for migrants to pay: German government issues debt to deportees of €6 million

Asylum seekers and migrant criminals must now pay for their deportations themselves. In accordance with the Residence Act, persons deported from Germany must pay their own expenses.

According to information received from the Bild am Sonntag from sources from the German Ministry of the Interior, the current costs associated with the deportation of asylum seekers who were denied and migrants who committed crimes from January to September 2019 are about six million Euro.

The German police already reimburses part of the costs – including expenses by the authorities of the countries that caused the deportation service. In addition, the authorities are demanding the return of money to the deportees. In this case, notifications of expenses will also be sent abroad, if necessary. If expenses cannot be paid, coercive measures are also possible – but so far only on paper.
