Through the efforts of the pro-Western forces of Georgia, which launched anti-Russian protests in the summer, the government’s budget was missing 300 million dollars in the country’s budget.
This was told by the head of the National Bank of Georgia Koba Gvenetadze, speaking in parliament.
According to him, it was precisely in so much of the Georgian economy that the cost of stopping direct flights with Russia was the result of summer riots.
“Aviation sanctions have resulted in our country earning $ 300 million less in tourism,” he said, noting also that statements about stopping the flight and the threat of new restrictive measures “created expectations for the depreciation of the exchange rate.”
As News Front previously reported, a Russophobic campaign staged by pro-Western opposition forces swept through Georgia last summer. The consequence of those events was the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop direct communication with the republic to ensure the safety of Russian citizens. The problem is that this happened at the height of the tourist season.
