Any innovations require the mutual will of the parties to the conflict, without this, the conversation is unpromising, said spokesman for the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the idea of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to change the Minsk agreements, RIA Novosti writes.
Asked by journalists about the conditions under which the Kremlin would agree to hold additional talks on the idea of Kiev to update the Minsk agreements to the realities of today, Dmitry Peskov said that the Minsk complex of measures is signed by representatives of the self-proclaimed republics of Donbass. According to the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, it is possible to talk about any innovations without knowing the point of view and position of representatives of the DPR and LPR, however, this is an unpromising exercise.
“You don’t even need to ask the Kremlin here. Mutual will of the parties to the conflict is needed, and the parties to the conflict are Kiev and the self-proclaimed republics on the other hand. Under the Minsk package of measures is the signature of representatives of the self-proclaimed republics. Accordingly, talk about any innovations without recognizing the point of view and the position of representatives of the self-proclaimed republics is possible, but this is unpromising”, – Peskov explained.
He also noted that in this case he wants to mentally return everyone to Paris, where on December 9 the summit of the leaders of the “Norman Four” was held and a document was agreed that “in principle can and should be considered a success”.
