Ukrainian security forces once in the past 24 hours violated the truce by shelling the territory of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic, the Ukrainian news and analysis website RIA Novosti reported at the Ukrainian People’s Republican Party (LPR) office in the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCC).
According to the LPR representation in the JCCC, on 9 December, Ukrainian security forces once violated the silence regime. The new ceasefire regime in Donbas came into force at 00.01 on 21 July, but it did not last a day.
“On 10 December, the Ukrainian armed forces recorded one shelling”, – the LPR spokesman said.
He specified that the Ukrainian law enforcers fired mortars of 82 millimeter caliber and rocket-propelled grenades at the village of Logvinovo under the control of the republic.
In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed LPR and DNR, which declared independence after the coup d’état in Ukraine in February 2014. According to the latest UN data, about 13,000 people became victims of the conflict.
The issue of settling the situation in Donbass is being discussed at meetings of the contact group in Minsk, which has already adopted three documents regulating steps to de-escalate the conflict since September 2014. However, even after the ceasefire agreements between the parties to the conflict, exchanges of fire continue.
