LGBT persons break into Islam – Saudi Arabia begins to legitimize homosexuals

Although Islamic traditions view homosexuality as immoral, Western values have also reached Saudi Arabia.

In Riyadh, for example, the first non-governmental organization was established to legitimize the LGBT community in the kingdom. The NGO was named Mukhtalifun [Miscellaneous], which will now defend the rights of homosexuals in a country where non-traditional sexual relations are punishable under religious canons.

It is worth noting that such liberalisation processes began in Saudi Arabia with the announcement of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. At the same time, orthodox Islamic theologians dissatisfied with this development faced repression.
